PRICING: Pricing is primarily based on the surface area, but it depends on the nature of the commission. An image of St. John the Baptist, for example, would cost less than an image of the Theophany of the same size; or an image in colored pencil would cost more than one in graphite. The prices below provide a reference point but are not set in stone, so please inquire with the subject of your icon, size, and artistic medium for a quote.

Graphite:

Below 80in²: $1.5/in² or above
80in² or above: $1.2/in² or above

Colored Pencil, Digital, and Calligraphic:

Below 80in²: $2.7/in² or above
80in² or above: $2.5/in² or above

Tempera and Acrylic:

COMMISSION PROCESS: Work-in-progress shots are sent periodically. Each piece is treated and varnished, placed in a resealable cellophane envelope and shipped in a cardboard mailer. Religious images and icons are venerated by the artist prior to shipping, but are NOT blessed by a priest. (More info about this in the FAQ)

Currently taking for the following size specifications:

Minimum size: 5"×7"
Size preferred by artist: 8"×10"
Maximum size if the item needs to be shipped: 8.5" x 11"

(or if I can give the final piece to my client personally: 11" x 15")

Modifications to artwork:

I can accept modification inquiries throughout the commission, and I can make three corrections with no addition to the price after the first WIP is sent. At my discretion, I may allow minor modifications even after the initial draft has been finalized, if the process allows me to. But due to the nature of art media, ABSOLUTELY NO modifications can be made after the medium has been applied on the final draft. Refund and discount requests will not be honored.

FIXATIVE: Fixatives are spray-on "varnishes" that I add to the top of my work to protect the layers underneath it from smudging, moreso with graphite than with any other media. I apply it on by default, so please inform me if you do not want fixative on your icon. More information on fixatives in the FAQ.

 

PAYMENT: Full payment, including all added costs (e.g. shipping, etc.) are split 50/50 due before the commission starts, and prior to being shipped; or if you prefer, all at once when the first payment is due. The commission doesn't start until a deposit is made and all the needed reference pictures are sent to me (if it applies to the particular commission). I primarily use Venmo or Zelle, but open to using other platforms. For security purposes, I do not accept mail-in cheques or direct wiring (no exceptions). Unwarranted money transfers do not obligate me, as the artist, to fulfill unconsented commission requests.

SHIPPING: Flat rate of $10 if destination is within the United States. Shipping for multiple items can be combined. Tracking information will be provided. I have very little experience shipping to outside US territories. If you're commissioning from out of the country, talk to me about shipping costs.

COMMISSION CONTRACT: Unless agreed upon beforehand, I retain the copyright of the commission piece. You may not modify, reproduce, distribute, or sell my artwork without my consent, or claim my artwork as your own work. So that I can be fair to all my clients, I expect all the conditions on this page to be observed during the commission.

PRINTS: Prints of past works are available on my Etsy store. If there is a piece you want to have a print of but is not listed on my store, please let me know.
